SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 12, 2017 – Intacct, the customer satisfaction leader in cloud ERP software, today announced that Church Community Builder, a rapidly growing provider of web-based church management software, selected Intacct over NetSuite to help prepare for continued expansion. Intacct’s robust ERP applications will allow the software-as-a-service (SaaS) company to adopt critical finance best practices such as accrual-based accounting, automate processes, and gain granular visibility into business performance.
Church Community Builder’s growth has accelerated in recent years, and its finance team struggled to keep pace using a basic QuickBooks accounting system that simply couldn’t scale to meet the needs of a software business with thousands of customers. The team was spending a full day preparing cumbersome monthly reports in Excel and found it challenging to produce accurate SaaS metrics on an ad hoc basis. After making the decision to transition from cash-basis to accrual-based accounting and GAAP revenue recognition, they knew they would need another full-time accountant just to manage deferred revenue calculations.
“It became painfully clear that we had outgrown QuickBooks, and we evaluated both Intacct and NetSuite as possible alternatives,” said Michelle Zitzmann, controller at Church Community Builder. “Intacct was a much better fit for our needs because it didn’t require us to move everything over to a new platform. Intacct’s open approach to ERP gives us the flexibility to integrate any existing and future business applications we choose, and will ultimately deliver greater efficiency and financial insight to help us scale the business.”
The company is working with Intacct implementation partner Armanino LLP to implement the cloud ERP software and integrate it with ADP’s payroll application, HubSpot’s marketing automation, and Salesforce’s CRM system. This will eliminate duplicate data entry and enable more streamlined processes across the business.
“By moving from QuickBooks to Intacct, we expect to save at least 30 hours each month of very manual data entry, and avoid over $50,000 per year in finance headcount costs,” said Zitzmann. “As we continue to grow, Intacct will add even more value by automating transaction processing so that we don’t have to increase Church Community Builder’s overhead when we add more customers.”
The finance team most looks forward to leveraging Intacct’s flexible reporting and dashboards, which will reduce report preparation time and dramatically improve the organization’s financial visibility. Using Intacct Dimensions, Church Community Builder can easily tag expense and income transactions with details such as specific customers or departments, and then filter, group, and organize their data for more granular reporting—something that is simply impossible using QuickBooks. For example, they’ll be able to produce real-time SaaS metrics, like monthly recurring revenue and customer churn, across various categories with the push of a button.
