ATLANTA – June 3, 2019 – Sage (FTSE: SGE), the market leader in cloud business management solutions, today announced that Tri-County Mental Health Services utilized Sage Intacct, a solution available in Sage Business Cloud, to gain real-time insight and accelerate financial processes. By doing so, the accounting team freed up a week every month they now put toward strategic initiatives to support the agency’s mission, such as increasing departmental and grant visibility to ensure greater accountability and improve patient services.
Missouri’s Tri-County Mental Health Services provides safety-net services in mental and behavioral health, as well as substance use disorders. To serve a diverse clientele in urban, suburban, and rural settings, it developed a unique provider network allowing the agency to deliver convenient, cost-effective services to over 8,000 people each year. Over the years, Tri-County has grown to meet the region’s increasing mental health needs, especially surrounding the opioid crisis.
The agency recently decided to replace its 15-year-old on-premises accounting system with a modern, HIPAA-compliant financial management solution that could meet audit requirements and better manage its complex income sources, which include a county mental health levy, state funding, Medicaid, other insurers, and grants. With the help of Sage Intacct implementation partner, BKD Technologies, Tri-County’s finance team migrated to Sage Intacct. In doing so, they quickly transformed several manual, paper-based financial workflows and gained robust internal controls with advanced audit trails to support healthcare regulations.
“As we were thinking through who we wanted to partner with moving forward, we quickly narrowed our options down to Sage Intacct and Oracle NetSuite,” said Michelle Naus, CFO, Tri-County Mental Health Services. “We ultimately selected Sage Intacct for its real-time financial visibility, streamlined processes, and flexibility to integrate with any business solution we needed.”
After implementing Sage Intacct, Tri-County’s finance team realized significant benefits, including:
- Timely insight into grant and departmental performance: The organization’s users enjoy real-time Sage Intacct dashboards, where they track key operational metrics like patient visits and headcount, alongside department-specific income statements. The greatly improved visibility throughout the month encouraged budget ownership and supported better decisions about how to improve operations.
- Increased efficiency through automated processes: Using Sage Intacct eliminated a full day of work every week the team previously spent on manual approvals and data entry across accounts payable, payroll, and reporting. In addition, the system now produces polished board and manager packets in just seconds, eliminating two days of error-prone Excel-based board reporting.
- Freedom to serve as forward-looking strategic partners to the business: As a result of productivity improvements, the team now has bandwidth to focus on the future, think creatively about their roles, reforecast budgets, inform grant proposals, and support strategic projects that impact patients.
“Now that we’re so much more productive with Sage Intacct, my team can serve as strategic partners and leaders in the agency by providing more forward-thinking information,” said Naus. “Rather than spending time on historical data, we’ve been able to flip our focus forward, and do things like reforecast our budget as needed, work closely with the development team to create grant proposals, and help the grant writers make a greater impact for our consumers.”
