February 12, 2020 – UNITE HERE HEALTH (UHH) provides benefits to meet the triple aim of better care, better health, and lower costs while empowering its participants to better manage their health. The national health benefits provider gained extensive efficiency, scalability, and visibility by deepening its adoption of Sage Intacct and integrating the financial system with additional best-in-class applications. The nonprofit organization increased finance team productivity by 30 percent, accelerated its monthly close by 40 percent, and achieved significant hard/soft cost savings. By using the HIPAA-compliant Sage Intacct solution to track and analyze key performance metrics, UHH also benefits from granular transparency across more than 40 departments and plan units.

UHH is a multi-employer Taft Hartley ERISA Fund that provides high quality, affordable health benefits to eligible union members in the hospitality and gaming industry. Previously, the organization relied on legacy on-premises accounting software that required duplicate data entry between systems and made it challenging to compile plan-specific reports and budgets.

After working with RKL eSolutions to deploy Sage Intacct, a solution available in Sage Business Cloud, UHH’s finance team transformed their processes and attained the flexibility to create dozens of multi-dimensional dashboards—each automatically populated with specific metrics and financials for individual stakeholders.

In the five years since implementing Sage Intacct, UHH achieved:

Streamlined processes across a best-in-class finance stack: Following the integration of Adaptive Insights’ budgeting and planning software with Sage Intacct, the team replaced several Excel-based tasks and shortened their budget cycle by 30 percent. In addition, they connected Sage Intacct with Yooz for accounts payable automation, Concur for travel management, FloQast for monthly close tracking, BNA for fixed assets, Fastpath for internal control enhancements, US Bank for cash deposits and reconcilement, and Alteryx for data analytics.

Freedom from mundane tasks, allowing deeper analysis and faster scale: Sage Intacct’s cloud-based, end-to-end workflows increased staff efficiency, allowing Schmidt to reallocate 40 percent of his time into strategic planning and process improvement, and boosted morale. The system improvements allowed Finance to scale to meet increased transaction volumes.

More informed and timely decisions: Personalized dashboards in Sage Intacct save the finance team about 30 days on reporting every year, while delivering greater transparency to trustees and internal stakeholders.
